WUMA – Miner: An Agent-based Design Pattern for Mining Users with Similar Navigational Behavior

This article introduces WUMA – Miner, an agent-based detailed design pattern for mining users with similar navigational behavior. WUMA Miner is part of a system of patterns for the design of multi-agent Web recommender systems based on Usage Mining techniques. An idiom for the development of agents in the JADE development environment, used on the implementation example of the WUMA – Miner pattern is also introduced. Patterns are derived from recurrent designs of specific agent-based applications, and considering solutions to also recurrent problems specified as generic requirements of applications in a domain. The proposed patterns are being developed in the context of a Multi-Agent Domain Engineering research project, which approaches software complexity and productivity through the construction of techniques and tools promoting software reuse on the development of multi-agent systems.
